Frequently Asked Questions
Hiring Workers for UAE — Common Employer Questions
How long does it take to deploy workers from India to UAE?
Deployment to Dubai takes 15 working days from receipt of a valid demand letter. Abu Dhabi is 18 days and Sharjah 16 days. The UAE is the fastest GCC deployment corridor — MOHRE entry permit processing and contract attestation are handled in parallel with GAMCA medical clearance to compress the timeline.
What does MOHRE compliance mean for hiring foreign workers in UAE?
MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation) governs all private sector employment in UAE. Compliance requires a valid offer letter and labour contract registered on the MOHRE system, an entry permit issued before the worker boards their flight, Emirates ID registration within 30 days of arrival, and workers enrolled on WPS (Wage Protection System) within 60 days. AK International manages the demand letter and entry permit coordination on your behalf.
Is health insurance mandatory for workers in UAE?
Yes. Dubai Health Authority (DHA) mandates that all visa-sponsored employees have health insurance before their residence visa is issued. Abu Dhabi requires health insurance issued by HAAD-approved providers. AK International can advise on cost-effective group insurance options for large batches of blue-collar workers.
What is the WPS (Wage Protection System) and do we need to be enrolled?
WPS is the UAE Central Bank system that tracks salary payments for all MOHRE-registered employees. Employers must pay salaries through a WPS-approved channel within 30 days of the salary due date. Non-compliance triggers MOHRE penalties including recruitment permit freezes. AK International's deployment coordination ensures workers are onboarded with WPS-aligned contracts from day one.
Can we hire workers for multiple UAE cities in one deployment?
Yes. Multi-city deployments — for example, 40 workers to Dubai and 20 to Abu Dhabi from the same batch — are standard. Workers are routed to their respective sites by our mobilisation team. Each city receives a separate MOHRE entry permit batch but we process them simultaneously to maintain a single arrival window.
What are end-of-service gratuity obligations for blue-collar workers in UAE?
UAE Labour Law mandates end-of-service gratuity for workers who complete at least one year of service: 21 calendar days salary per year for the first 5 years, and 30 days per year thereafter. Gratuity is paid on termination or non-renewal. AK International includes gratuity cost modelling in our deployment cost proposals so you have full total-cost-of-employment visibility.
